August 18th, 2025 Update. Upload Day!

August is turning into a bit of a month. I took my car into the shop for an oil change and tire rotation. During the inspection, they noted my tie rods were loose, so it’s time to replace those, and they checked on a recall. Turns out mine needed to have the recall done, and because it's my brake lines and they need to order the part, well, it’s best I don’t drive it, and they gave a loaner for a few days. No big deal. Part comes in, but the tech they have doing it is backlogged, so they need to keep it over the weekend. I get the phone call today, expecting it to be done, and I get told they damaged the fuel line and that has to be replaced. The part won't be in for a week. GAHH!!!!! It's not going to cost me anything extra and I have the loaner until it's done, but... GAHH!!!! Overall, no big deal, but it's frustrating; it changes how I plan and do things. To me, it's not my vehicle, so I want to be extra careful with it and won't go anywhere unless absolutely necessary. So yeah, that's been on my mind and messing with me.

In other news, I’ve uploaded Moonrise and will be updating my website tonight. I don't think I'll get my regular amount of writing done, but we’ll see, and if not I’ll push to catch up over the week. I don't have links yet, but as the week progresses, I'll fix anything that needs to be fixed and get the links. I'll put the link up on my website as soon as I get it and post them in next week's blog. Release date is October 1st.

Project Statuses

Main Project - Elite Ascent - 108,200 words: Overall, I’m slightly ahead for this week. Which is good, because the Tuesday curse struck again and it’s carrying through to this week. It and the Moonrise upload are putting me on the back foot for this week. That said, Elite Ascent is in its climax. I’m thinking we’ll see about three and a half chapters, and the book will be between 115k & 120k words long, a little short for me, but still in the range I like. I still need art, but I already gave my artist the brief and he acknowledged it. I'm suspecting he'll start on it either later this week or early next week; either way, it should be ready before I finish writing.

Side Project - World Anvil: I did not get as much done here as I would have liked. I admit, I had a few days where concentration was difficult. Did not help that I wanted to reread the My Dress Up Darling Manga while I'm waiting for the second season to fully come dubbed before I watch it. I did start on the one for Moonrise, so I could have the link, and I feel I can finish both before the end of September. My goal is to have both done before I finish editing Elite Ascent. Once Elite Ascent is uploaded, I want to take a few weeks to do world-building for the next book, which is the start of a new series, so I definitely want it done by that time so I can move right into that.
